Allowing parents and children to relocate

At the Law Offices of Lawrence S. Katz, P.A., we have been at the forefront of issues relating to the right of parents to relocate with their children. When one parent wishes to relocate to another country with the child, the other parent may object. The non-custodial parent may object to the increased difficulty in exercising visitation rights, including time-consuming and expensive travel to the new country of residence.

In addition, the parent can have legitimate fears that the new country of residence will not honor the custody agreement or decree. A variety of factors can come into play in making the determination to allow or prohibit the relocation.
